National Theatre Connections 2025, ‘Mia and The Fish’

We were thrilled to be selected to be part of the 2025 The National Theatre Connections festival.

This year, we performed ‘Mia and The Fish’, written by Satinder Chohan, which again included some of our lovely Robin Group members.

The story reimagines the ancient Indian myth of Manu and the Fish through the story of Mia, a young refugee in the UK during a devastating climate crisis. When she befriends a talking fish, Samaki, their bond becomes a lifeline for her community as they face extinction. The play weaves themes of displacement, the refugee experience, and our shared duty to protect the planet.

We performed to the home audience at The EODS centre and then at The Trinity Theatre in Tunbridge Wells, which included drama workshops with leaders from The National Theatre. Another fantastic experience.

We will return in 2026 with a new play, as we have again been selected to perform at the 2026 festival which is very exciting. Watch this space!

National Theatre Connections 2024, ‘Age is Revolting’

In April, 2024, The Robinson Academy of Drama teenage group took part in The National Theatre Connections, performing the play  ‘Age is Revolting’ which was written by Abi Zakarian.

It was an enormous privilege for our group to be selected to take part in this nationwide youth festival where drama groups throughout the country perform 10 different plays.

At Robinson Academy of Drama, we are incredibly proud to be inclusive with members of our wonderful Robin Group also taking part.

The final performance was at The Trinity Theatre in Tunbridge Wells. During the day, there were drama workshops with leaders from The National Theatre followed by a dress rehearsal and then the final performance to a packed theatre!

We are honoured to have been selected to take part in 2025 festival. We can’t wait to see what we will perform!
