Becky Robinson

Becky Robinson, founder of The Robinson Academy of Drama

I am Becky Robinson, Drama Teacher and Co-ordinator of the ‘Robinson Academy’.

I live in Eastbourne with my Husband and my two sons.

I have been a primary teacher at a local school since 2000 after qualifying with a PGCE at Roehampton University in 2000. I had previously received a 2.1 BA honours in Arts Therapies majoring in Drama at the University of Derby.

I have performed in many Plays, Musicals and Shakespeare productions over the last 25 years in the Eastbourne area, Derby and London.

As a child and a teenager I myself took LAMDA exams and found them a very positive learning experience.

Over the past 16 years I have entered my schools drama group into Music and Arts festivals in the speech and Drama categories with excellent results.

I love seeing initially very shy children and young adults grow and bloom in confidence during drama lessons and have the confidence ultimately to perform in front of an audience.

I live in Eastbourne with my family.

Sam Kavakli

Sam Kavakli, teacher at The Robinson Academy of Drama in Eastbourne

Hello, I am Sam Kavakli – Teaching Assistant and Assistant Director for the youth groups, alongside being Technical Manager and Programme Designer for the company.

I joined the Robinson Drama Academy in 2013 as a 9-year-old looking to try something new and I haven’t looked back since!

I met Becky via being best friends with her oldest son Leon, who I started a duo class alongside.

Together, Leon and I competed in the Eastbourne Music and Arts Festival on a few occasions, with multiple medals and placements in our accolades as well as two trophies!

In 2022, with thanks to the help from Becky and Lisa, I completed my Lamda exam at gold medal, after making my way up the ranks.

I moved into a staff position in 2021 and I have loved every single moment.

I love seeing kids thrive and grow into themselves through the magic of theatre!

I am so proud of every student that I have ever come across and I look forward to hopefully meeting even more in the future.
